Real Madrid youngster Yan Diomande has been handed the number 25 shirt by Los Blancos. Diomande has sealed his 125 million move from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig. It could potentially rise to 140 million with bonuses.
The 19-year-old Ivory Coast star has put pen to paper on a contract which would last until 2033. The number 25 has been worn by a range of highly-rated Real Madrid stars including Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Eduardo Camavinga during their spells at the club before moving on to different shirt numbers. It was used by Vinicius and Rodrygo before swapping for number 11 and 21 respectively.
The No. 25 has previously been sported by Real Madrid goalkeepers including Thibaut Courtois in his first season and captain and legendary stopper Iker Casillas, as well as ex-Germany defender Bodo Illgner.
His move to Madrid means Diomande is one of the highest-feeing players in the Bundesliga’s history. The base 125 million of his fee is level with Leverkusen attacker Florian Wirtz, as only the duo Ousmane Dembele and Jude Bellingham have commanded higher sums in the history of the German league.
“Playing in such a club was my childhood dream, and I thank RB Leipzig for giving me the opportunity to fulfill this dream despite my current contract,” he said after confirmation of his deal, which has an eventual value of up to €140 million.
