Zambia has been plunged into mourning following the death of one of its brightest stars, Wesley Chibambo, popularly known as Dandy Krazy, in a fatal road accident on New Year’s Eve. The 47-year-old musician died from injuries sustained when his vehicle collided with a truck and another car in Kapiri Mposhi, claiming three lives at the scene.
Dandy Krazy, popular for his hit song Donchi Kubeba, which characterized the 2011 Zambian elections, was rushed to the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka but was pronounced dead during a surgical operation in the early hours of Thursday.
Tributes flooded in for the artist, as President Hakainde Hichilema praised him as an “extraordinary talent” whose music crossed borders. His daughter Comfort also shared a touching message, mourning her father’s death on her sister’s birthday.
