The Zamfara State Police Command has revealed that it has rescued nine children kidnapped by bandits from the Gora-Namaye Community in Maradun Local Government Area of the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Yazid Abubakar, had made the disclosure via a statement issued in Gusau on Sunday, June 4.
The statement read:
“On 3rd June, 2023, at about 20:14hrs, information was received from the district Head of Gora-Namaye village in Maradun LGA that nine children, including males and females who had gone to fetch firewood in the bush, were ambushed and abducted by armed bandits.
“On receiving the report, the joint police and other security agencies rallied to the scene and began a search and rescue operation that led to the rescue of the kids.”
The police spokesperson additionally stated that the State Command has already reunited the victims with their families.
Recall that the bandits had on Saturday, June 3, attacked several communities in Maradun LGA, killing some innocent individuals in the process.
