Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Saturday that the resolution of the almost two year long war with Russia relies on the commitment of Kyiv’s Western allies to supply weapons and grant usage permissions. In his nightly address, he praised Ukrainian forces for striking an arsenal in Russia and emphasized the importance of his upcoming meetings in the U.S. for securing necessary defense capabilities.
Zelenskiy expressed that the war’s end depends on the alignment of partner support with Ukraine’s defense needs. He reiterated his call for increased military aid, especially to counter slow Russian advances in Donetsk and to allow strikes deep within Russia to protect Ukraine’s infrastructure.
Next week, Zelenskiy will attend U.N. sessions and meet with U.S. leaders, including President Biden and Vice President Harris, and hopes to connect with Donald Trump as well.
