Hollywood animated sequel Zootopia 2 has officially set a new box office record, emerging as the highest-grossing animated film of all time.
The Disney release, which premiered in November 2025, has generated more than $1.7 billion (£1.3 billion) worldwide, surpassing the previous record held by Inside Out 2, which earned $1.69 billion following its 2024 release.
The film’s remarkable performance was driven by strong global audience turnout, allowing it to quickly overtake its predecessor at the top of the animated box office rankings.

Reacting to the milestone, Disney Entertainment Chairman Alan Bergman credited fans for the historic success, describing the achievement as a collective effort.
“This milestone belongs first and foremost to the fans around the world whose enthusiasm made it possible. We’re incredibly proud of our filmmakers… Zootopia 2 is an extraordinary achievement, and we’re grateful to everyone who helped bring it to life,” he said.
With its record-breaking run, Zootopia 2 has further cemented Disney’s dominance in the global animation market and set a new benchmark for future animated releases.
