This tragedy has left a family in bereavement after a 10-year-old girl had been fatally attacked by the family dog at their residence in the Malton area of North Yorkshire. The attack occurred on Friday around 4:15 p.m., which promptly brought on a response from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service. Despite their best efforts and the help of a nearby resident, the young girl suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
North Yorkshire Police said one of the family members had been able to restrain the dog in a car prior to the officer’s arrival. The animal was later seized by police and conveyed to a secure kennel for evaluation as part of the continuing investigation.
