On the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Ogere Remo-North Local Government Area of Ogun State, a deadly accident left no fewer than eleven people burned beyond recognition.
The event was reported on Sunday by the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State Sector.
Several crashes happened late last night, according to Florence Okpe, a spokesperson for the command.
Two Mazda buses and one unidentified car collided and caught fire close to the Isara bridge in the Ogere Area of Ogun State, according to Okpe, who claimed that three vehicles were involved.
Eighteen people in total were involved, however, only seven were rescued, while eleven unidentified individuals were burned beyond recognition.
Seven people in all—five male adults, one female adult, and one male child—were rescued with injuries.
The injured people were transported to Victory Hospital in Ogere for medical care. A sufferer was turned away but was eventually brought to Babcock University Teaching Hospital in Ilisan.
The impact of the collision is blocking the expressway’s Ibadan-Lagos bound lanes, and the Sagamu fire department has been notified.
The vehicles that crashed are still burning, and traffic has been rerouted to the Lagos-Ibadan route.
Motorists are urged to drive carefully, abide by traffic laws, and work with traffic controllers to handle the situation.
