It’s all celebration for Ghanaians as the Black Galaxies of Ghana defeated home-based super Eagles 2-0 in the African National championship qualifiers.

If we can recall, Annor stated that he was very confident that his team would defeat Nigeria. His prediction came out true. He has now revealed how they were able to defeat the Nigerian team, in the first leg of the CHAN qualifiers. As goals from Daniel Afunye Barnieh and Suraj Seidu gave Ghana Victory over Nigeria in cape coast Stadium in Accra.

According to Walker, the match was pretty tough, as their opportunities to score were blocked by the Nigerian team in the first half. So immediately after the first half ended, he had to psyche his players and advise them to play with more aggression just like the Nigerian team, truly the players adhered to all he said.

Talking about their last two matches before this one, Walker said that it hasn’t been an easy ride, as only the match with Benin was pretty easy as they scored two in the first half.

“In actual fact, it was a difficult game especially in the first half because the Nigerians didn’t allow us to play the way we wanted,” Walker was quoted on ghanasoccernet.com.

“So, after the first half, we talked to the players to change their mentality and play aggressively like how Nigeria did in the first half. After the break, I think the players changed their mindset, and that paid off for us.

“In all, I will say it was a difficult game but all the same God has seen us through. We have struggled in the first half in our last two games (Qatar and Nigeria) but against Benin, it wasn’t like that because we had the chance to score two early goals in the first half.

“Against Qatar, we struggled a bit until the second half because they scored two goals which disrupted us. Nigeria too made it difficult for us in the first half and it is good that we have noticed our shortfalls, going forward we will change the narrative,” Walker stated.

Many Nigerians predicted that Ghana will win the match as their level of preparation was high. The second leg of the qualifier is to hold at  Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
