Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, says the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is endowed with competent and intelligent personalities who can successfully manage the affairs of the country and address the plethora of challenges bedevilling it.

Makinde said the only impediment that might stop the country from wresting power from the All Progressive Congress (APC) is internal wrangling and conflict, noting that PDP would become unstoppable once the party is united.

The governor also disclosed that former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, incumbent governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Tambuwal, Bauchi governor, Bala Mohammed have indicated  interest vying for the presidency in 2023.

He averred that once the PDP governors are able to align their interests, move with common interests and purpose and come together to resolve challenges confronting the party, then there’s hope for the country.

Makinde noted that the issue of Presidential candidate is secondary now, he asserted that what is important now is successful conduct of PDP national convention. He appealed to members of the party and Nigerians to support the party in ensuring the party’s convention is a success.

“There’s no way anyone can emerge as president, vice-president, even governor if the party is in turmoil and shambles”, Makinde said.

The governor who spoke on Channels TV programme, politics today, stressed the need for the party to get its act together and be united.

Makinde expressed confidence in ability of the people to make informed decisions that will  help the PDP defeat APC in 2023.

“Well, it is a question that I know Nigerians will answer and they will answer decisively.” Makinde said.
