Nigerian music icon 2Baba has announced his separation from his wife, actress Annie Macaulay, and disclosed that divorce proceedings are underway.
The music star made the revelation through a heartfelt statement shared on his Instagram on Sunday.
He wrote, “Hello to my beautiful people of all FEDERATIONS.
“Well this thing I have to say is short but also long. I and Annie Macaulay have been separated for a while now and currently filed divorce. I would grant a press release soon to say my story. Not because it is anyone’s right to know about my personal life; but because I love my people and I need them to know my innocence or offense. Stay blessed my people. I love you all”.
Soon after the post was shared, it was removed by someone thought to be Annie, who reportedly has access to the account. A new post later appeared, suggesting that the singer’s account had been compromised.
“My Instagram account has been hacked, efforts are being carried out to take back control #onelove!”
In a follow-up video, the 49-year-old singer refuted the earlier allegations that his Instagram account had been hacked.
He then proceeded to confirm that he has indeed separated from Annie.
“Hello my people, nobody hacked my account. Na me talk wetin I want talk, you understand? I come in peace,” he said.
As of the time of this report, Annie has not yet commented on the matter.
2Baba and Annie tied the knot in May 2012 and share two daughters, Olivia and Isabella. Their marriage has often been in the public eye, drawing significant attention and scrutiny.
Annie made a public accusation of infidelity against 2Baba in 2021, claiming that he had a relationship with his baby mama, Pero Adeniyi.
Prior to his marriage to Annie, 2Baba was involved with Pero Adeniyi and Sumbo Ajala-Adeoye. He shares three children with Adeniyi and two with Sumbo.
