The 2024 Fashion Awards, which held on Monday, December 2nd at the Royal Albert Hall in London, was a glamorous celebration of fashion, creativity, and innovation. The night was an offering of star-studded appearances, stunning red carpet looks and memorable performances, cementing it as an event that will be remembered for months to come.

My best part from this awards show was how everyone tried their best and brought their fashion A-game to the red carpet. But as I’ve come to understand with events such as this is that sometimes, one’s best may just not cut it. There will always be a worst dressed celeb due to a wardrobe malfunction or the fault of their stylist.

Already curious to see who made it to my worst and best dressed list? Well, continue to scroll down and hope that your fave is not on the wrong side of the list.

The Red Carpet Highlights

Best Dressed Stars

1. Rihanna: The singer turned beauty mogul had been all anyone on the fashion side of the internet would rave about. This mom of two was the cynosure of all eyes in the striking blue vintage Christian Lacroix Haute Couture fur coat dress she wore from the brand’s fall 2002 collection. To complete the splendent look, Rihanna paired it with a matching oversized hat, she channeled a ’90s Pamela Anderson vibe that left everyone in awe.

2. A$AP Rocky: Rihanna’s love interest and singer, complemented her perfectly in a sleek Bottega Veneta look. His ensemble was both stylish and sophisticated (no surprise there), fitting for the recipient of the Cultural Innovator Award that he won.

3. Nicola Coughlan: This Bridgerton star made a bold  but unique statement in the glamorous Gaurav Gupta gown by she wore which showcasing her innovative and fearless style on the red carpet.

4. Simone Ashley: This star was another of my favourites from the red carpet. She had worn a gorgeous Prada gown that paid a tribute to timeless elegance.

Mixed Reviews

Everyone in the fashion industry, from the critic to the style maven knows and understands that fashion is and can be subjective. With this in mind, certain stars received mixed reviews for their bold choices and some of them were:

a. Ellie Goulding’s white coat dress, which was criticised for looking like a sleeping bag, and Rita Ora’s punk-inspired oversized grey suit, paired with spiky blonde hair and large silver accessories. Critics condemned the attire, saying it aimed for a bold look that unfortunately, didn’t resonate with everyone.

Worst Dressed Stars

1. Myleene Klass: Myleene Klass stepped out to the red carpet wearing a white, revealing hot pants and crop top ensemble, which looked out of place for the event, considering she was attending an awards show.

2. Laura Whitmore: Laura Whitmore’s daringly plunging gown with a lustrous black bodice and red velvet trimmings, paired with a kooky hat, did not impress the viewers and  many fashion critics who viewed the ensemble as an over-the-top look.

3. Noomi Rapace: Noomi Rapace’s high-waisted trousers and excessively sequinned top, paired with big, black platform heels, were a tad too unconventional for my tastes in what should be worn to a red carpet event.

The Award Winners from the 2024 Edition

– Jonathan Anderson for JW Anderson & Loewehad won Designer of the Year

–  Alex Consani had controversially beat Anok Yai to win Model of the Year

Conclusion

The 2024 Fashion Awards was a night of glamour, creativity, and standout moments. From the best dressed stars to the unforgettable performances by Chloe and Halle Bailey who were both dressed in custom Dilara Fındıkoğlu and Wizkid who closed the awards ceremony with a performance to honour Remo Ruffini’s Trailblazer Award.
