The 2025–26 UEFA Champions League event will make headlines in history, as the competition will get six entries from the Premier League for the very first time. The Europa League win of Tottenham Hotspur guaranteed the participation of six England clubs in the top-tier European tournament for the first time ever.

The English clubs were the ones possessing the superior UEFA coefficient points. The truth about the five Champions League spots was revealed only after the success of Arsenal in the quarterfinal round against Real Madrid. But the biggest story was Tottenham, who by winning the UEFA League, and despite their lousy domestic performance, made themselves the sixth English team in the pursuit of the Champions League trophy.

It was Liverpool and Arsenal who managed to go first after Liverpool triumphed in the Premier League in April, and Arsenal secured second place by defeating Newcastle United at the Emirates with a score of 1-0. Manchester City then got third place following their game with Fulham, while Chelsea finished off their game against Nottingham Forest with a win to get fourth place.

It can be said that taking the Europa League may have been the only way for Tottenham to stay in touch with their European dream since The Lilywhites ended 17th in the Premier League.

The Premier League teams that will be contesting the Champions League during 2025–26 are as follows:

  • Liverpool (Premier League titlists)
  • Arsenal (runner-ups)
  • Manchester City (third-place team)
  • Chelsea (fourth-place team)
  • Newcastle United (fifth-place team)

Tottenham Hotspur (winners in the Europa League)

The Premier League has been undoubtedly represented in Europe with an extra trio of English teams competing in the two previous competitions of the Europa League and the Conference League.
