Nollywood actress Osas Ighodaro has shared how she continues to navigate life after the loss of her mother, nearly four years since her passing.

Speaking during an interview on Off The Top with VJ Adams, the actress opened up about the enduring pain of grief and how it still catches her off guard.

Despite the time that has passed, Osas revealed that the sadness resurfaces unexpectedly, reminding her that grief doesn’t simply disappear. However, she has found ways to cope by allowing herself to fully experience her emotions instead of bottling them up.

“I allow myself to feel what I’m feeling, then I move forward,” she said.

Osas also spoke about her mindset in dealing with the emotional weight, explaining that she focuses on the idea that life’s challenges are temporary. She finds comfort in believing that someday she’ll reunite with her mother and have stories to share.

“I haven’t cried in a while; it has almost been four years since my mum passed away and the pain never goes away,” she admitted.

“From time to time the emotion takes over and it can come unawares and that’s what I’m not really keen on. You could just get into the mood, and it’s a lot but I’ve learnt to allow it to take its course, brush it off and keep it moving.

“One thing that has really helped me, and I usually say this when someone loses a parent, is that this situation is temporary. Live your life the best way you can that so when your time comes to transition, you have a lot to tell your family over there.

“So I’m trying to live my life so that when I meet my mum long from now, I’d have a lot to gist about.”
