Iran President Claims Israel Tried to Kill Him During War

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has openly declared that Israel attempted to assassinate him during the recent war between the two countries. In an interview released on Monday, Pezeshkian said Israel failed in its plan to take his life.

“They did try, yes. They acted accordingly, but they failed,” Pezeshkian stated while speaking with US media personality Tucker Carlson.

When asked directly if he believed Israel wanted to kill him, Pezeshkian answered, “It was not the United States that was behind the attempt on my life. It was Israel. I was in a meeting… they tried to bombard the area in which we were holding that meeting.”

This comment points to an alleged Israeli attempt to assassinate him during the deadly 12-day war last month.

Iran President Says Israel Tried to Kill Him Amid Bloody War

On June 13, Israel launched heavy airstrikes on Iran, targeting high-level Iranian officials. The strikes reportedly killed many top military officers and nuclear scientists.

Pezeshkian’s statement comes after this brutal bombing campaign. According to Iranian authorities, the attacks killed more than 900 people.

This deadly assault occurred just days before scheduled nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington. Those talks began on April 12 but were later interrupted by the war.

In response to the strikes, Iran launched waves of missiles and drone attacks on Israel, killing 28 people.

The war between both countries saw direct strikes on Iran’s key nuclear sites in Fordo, Isfahan, and Natanz by Israel and the US.

Despite the recent war, Pezeshkian said Iran is still open to resuming nuclear talks. However, he made it clear that there are conditions. “We see no problem in re-entering the negotiations,” he said. But he asked, “How are we going to trust the United States again?”

He raised concerns about Israel’s actions during negotiations. “We re-entered the negotiations, then how can we know for sure that in the middle of the talks the Israeli regime will not be given the permission again to attack us?”

Pezeshkian’s remarks show Iran’s deep distrust towards both Israel and the United States. His statement also highlights how the failed attempt on his life may shape future diplomacy.

Bottom Line

Pezeshkian’s claim that Israel tried to assassinate him has added more heat to the already dangerous tension between both countries. His words were bold and controversial, and they send a strong message to the world.
