Nigerian singer Baba Fryo has offered his perspective on the collapse of the marriage between music icon 2Baba and actress Annie Idibia, pointing to the challenges of maintaining a relationship within the entertainment industry.
During an appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, which aired Monday via Instagram, Fryo suggested that the couple’s shared involvement in showbiz may have made it harder to sustain their union.
“2Face and his ex-wife didn’t manage themselves well. They are both entertainers. Annie is an actress, and 2Face is a musician,” he remarked.
Fryo emphasized the importance of balance in marriages, especially when both spouses have demanding public careers. Drawing from traditional roles, he suggested that a stabilizing force is often needed in a marriage — typically from the woman — especially if the man struggles with certain habits.
“In marriage, when the couple are out, the woman must watch the man. When the man is drinking, the woman will be watching him, and if he is drinking too much, the woman will calm him. But if you marry a woman who also drinks, when you’re both drunk, who will take the other home?” he asked.
He argued that when both partners indulge in the same vices without moderation, it can lead to emotional instability and drive one of them to seek comfort elsewhere.
“When a man sees that, he will become insecure in the marriage. And when he goes out and sees another woman with a different attitude… I’m not saying it’s a good attitude, oh, because even 2Face’s current lover, Natasha, is someone I have known,” he added.
Fryo then shared a personal anecdote about Natasha, who he claimed to have known since her early years.
“She is someone I have known since childhood. I once carried her on my lap when she was just three years old,” he said.
His comments have triggered mixed reactions online — while some viewers agreed that the pressures of fame can weigh heavily on relationships, others criticized Fryo for reinforcing outdated gender expectations in modern marriages.
