Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has addressed recent remarks suggesting she might consider being a second wife, explaining that her comments were made out of frustration and emotional pain from past relationships.
During an appearance on the American podcast Air Service, the 45-year-old singer revealed that the majority of her potential romantic interests tend to be men in their 50s or already married, which prompted her to make the controversial statement.

“If I meet somebody who can really marry me, they are either in their 50s or already married. So, I don’t know. Maybe I can be a second wife. I think so. I could be a second wife,” Savage said.
In a follow-up video, she clarified that her remarks were misinterpreted and that she has no genuine intention of entering a polygamous marriage.
Reflecting on her past, Savage shared that her previous experiences with love left her emotionally scarred. She noted that being the only wife in her previous marriage did not guarantee long-term happiness.
“I was a first wife, where did that get me? I got married as the only wife but here we are. I’m tired of being heartbroken; maybe I’m getting it wrong. Maybe I should try being a second wife,” she explained.
The mother of one stressed that being a second wife is not a path she truly desires.
“It’s not my choice, though. I don’t want to. I wish I could tell my truth, but I will be dragged,” Savage added.
