Hollywood icon Thomas Cruise Mapother IV, widely known as Tom Cruise, has finally received his first Oscar.
The star of Mission: Impossible and Top Gun was honored with an honorary award during the 16th Governors Awards over the weekend.

Expressing his gratitude, Cruise reflected on his lifelong passion for filmmaking. “Making films is not what I do, it is who I am,” he said.
The award was presented by acclaimed Mexican director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, who lauded Cruise’s unwavering commitment to cinema. “Writing a four-minute speech to celebrate Tom Cruise’s 45-year career is what is known, in this town, as a mission impossible. Tonight, we celebrate. We celebrate not just a filmography, we celebrate a lifetime of work,” Inarritu remarked.
At 63, Cruise has been nominated for an Oscar four times but had never won a competitive award, despite his enduring contributions to the film industry.
