The father of the late singer Mohbad has shared new details about his son’s troubled relationship with his widow, Omowunmi, shedding more light on the confusion surrounding their union and the paternity of her child.
In a newly circulated recording, he addressed ongoing claims that a full traditional wedding had taken place, insisting that the only event he attended was a simple introduction ceremony — nothing more. He emphasized that no bride price was ever paid to his knowledge.

He explained:
“When my son was alive, and Cynthia claimed to be pregnant, I felt it was necessary to meet her family properly. When we got to the venue, I saw a lot of the lady’s family members sitting there. We completed the introduction, and I met my son’s father-in-law for the first time. But I was shocked to hear claims that a traditional wedding happened without any knowledge or even the presence of the family head. Who collected the bride price?”
The late singer’s father further alleged that Mohbad had initially considered formalizing the marriage but later changed his mind after accusing Omowunmi of infidelity.
According to him, “He said he caught her with another man, informed his friend Myson and his elder sibling and mother, and then decided to tell me. That was why he called off the marriage plans.”
He noted that these unresolved issues remain part of the reason he continues to insist on a paternity test, stating, “And that is one of the reasons why I’m asking for DNA.”
His revelations introduce yet another layer to the ongoing conversations surrounding Mohbad’s death, his family disputes, and the unanswered questions still surrounding his personal life.
