Business mogul and philanthropist Obinna Iyiegbu, better known as Obi Cubana, has been honoured with a chieftaincy title in his home state, Anambra.
According to a statement he shared on Sunday, the Cubana Group chairman was awarded the title Ife-Igbo-Ji-Ka-Mba by the Enugwu-Ukwu na Umunri Traditional Council during a colourful ceremony held in Enugwu-Ukwu on Saturday.
The traditional ruler, Igwe Ralph Obumneme Ekpe, presented the title to Obi Cubana in recognition of his accomplishments in business, charitable activities, and his efforts to advance Igbo culture and excellence. The title, which can be interpreted as “the pride of the Igbo before the world,” is reserved for individuals who have made significant contributions to enterprise and community development.
At the ceremony, the monarch and council members commended Obi Cubana for his “visionary leadership, value-driven entrepreneurship and commitment to social impact,” emphasizing that his success has brought honour to Ndi Igbo on a global scale.
Obi Cubana expressed humility at receiving the recognition and vowed to continue supporting initiatives that foster economic growth and communal progress. “The honour will inspire me to positively represent Igbo heritage both within Nigeria and internationally,” he said.
The celebration attracted prominent figures from banking, oil and gas, real estate, and hospitality, along with community leaders and business executives who came together to mark the achievement.
