Grammy-winning rapper and global music icon Onika Maraj-Petty, popularly known as Nicki Minaj, has shared insights into her increasing involvement in political conversations, revealing that it stems from a long-standing sense of destiny that became more defined during the last United States presidential election.
The Queens-born artiste made the disclosure during a recent appearance on the Katie Miller Podcast, in a clip posted on Instagram by XXL on Monday.

When asked about the motivation behind her political interest, Minaj explained that she has always believed her purpose extended beyond music, even before her rise to fame.
“I had this strong premonition my whole life that I had a second job to do,” she said, adding that the feeling predated her music career.
Minaj noted that her curiosity and engagement grew stronger during the most recent presidential campaign, as she became increasingly vocal about political developments and began noticing patterns in how decisions unfolded.
“I was saying, ‘This is a bad idea’ or ‘This is a good idea,’ and the things I was saying were coming to fruition. It made me think, if it’s this easy, then maybe I should do it,” she said.
She also hinted that a recent personal experience further clarified her direction, suggesting that opposition and criticism can sometimes serve as catalysts for growth and transformation.
“Sometimes people can push you so much that they push you all the way into your next calling, your next blessing,” Minaj added.
