Joan Laporta revealed that FC Barcelona is considering a new plan for Marcus Rashford’s future at the club, which points to a possible transfer from Manchester United.
Rashford was on loan at Barcelona for a few months and even though he got his fans with his 15 goal contributions in 24 games initially, things started to go south and the Spanish championship wasn’t going to shell out €30 million regarding the purchase option in the contract.
On the contrary, Laporta confessed that the club should really think about what they agreed on. Barcelona’s presidential candidate noted to Jijantes that the club is watching several alternatives, among these, they are considering the possibility of a further loan or triggering part of the purchase option, only depending on Deco’s plans as a sporting director.

One of the reasons for this quick change is that Rashford’s form has worsened lately. In 2026, the English star has managed a mere five goal contributions in 14 matches and his last goal and assist came in Barcelona’s Copa del Rey game against Albacete Balompié way back in February.
Money might be another factor as well, because Barca are said to be focusing on other summer targets, for instance, Junián Álvarez from Atlético Madrid.
If Barcelona decides to back out of the deal, Rashford could go for another loan term or come back to United, where even interim boss Michael Carrick seems quite willing to welcome the forward back into the team.
