Veteran media entrepreneur Mo Abudu, founder of EbonyLife TV, has shared the story behind her decision to leave a stable career in the oil and gas industry to follow her passion in media.
Speaking at a recent conference focused on career growth and personal development, Abudu revealed that her move was driven by a deeper sense of purpose.
“I left my stable 9-to-5 oil and gas job at 40 to follow mine. It was a really nice job and there was no reason to leave, but I knew God wanted me to do something else,” she said.
Before making the transition, she held top positions in human resources and training at ExxonMobil, where she built a successful and respected career.
Despite the comfort and stability that came with the role, Abudu explained that she felt a strong urge to step outside her comfort zone and pursue a path where she could make a greater impact.
Her decision eventually led to the creation of EbonyLife TV, which has grown into one of Africa’s leading media platforms.
