Morocco prohibits ‘sacrilegious’ British Movie

Morocco cinema authorities have banned the controversial British Movie Lady of Heaven after the country’s religious council criticized it. The movie claimed to tell the story of lady Fatima, the daughter of Prophet Muhammad. The Ulema Supreme council had disclosed that the movie was an obvious misrepresentation of the facts of Islam. Also, there had been protests against the film in the U.K. Other countries like Egypt, Pakistan, Iran, and Iraq have also criticized the film.

The council has reproached the film of being offensive and partially hateful and has accused the filmmakers of wanting to propel the movie through popularity and sensation and hurting the feelings of certain religion’s beliefs the Moroccan state media cited. Movie producer Malik Shlibak has already denounced the people clamoring for the ban of the movie on his social media account. He has described them as bigoted and quickly told off his ‘haters’ to forgo watching the movie if they didn’t like it instead of reviewing it. He has commented previously that some Muslims didn’t want the movie banned.

After the protests that occurred outside some UK cinemas, the cinema chain in Britain annulled all screenings of the movie to ensure the security of their employed personnel and customers. This announcement annoyed some individuals that were yet to see the movie.
