Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti singled out Neymar’s hunger for the game after he marked his long-awaited World Cup comeback in their 3-0 victory over Scotland.
Ancelotti handed Neymar his first ever World Cup appearance 981 days after his last match for Brazil, after he arrived as a late substitute in the 72nd minute, coming on as Brazil rounded off their group stage success.

The three goals in Florida had been put home by Vinicius Junior twice, as well as Matheus Cunha. The 34-year-old will continue to chase a sixth World Cup title with Brazil after they have qualified in first place in Group C. Speaking to reporters about the experienced forward, Ancelotti said: “He deserved to play. Neymar recovered very well, with great seriousness and professionalism.”
“Like everyone else, he has the quality to help this team.” Ancelotti added that, after coming in for his first game since taking the helm, there was no fear over Neymar, being properly motivated. “At 34 years old, he has the passion of a boy to play football,” concluded the manager.
Brazil will face one of the Netherlands, Japan or Sweden in the Round of 32 as they continue to seek a sixth World Cup title in their decorated history.
