Elon Musk’s Reason for Pulling Out of $44billion Deal to Purchase Twitter

Elon Musk is about to end the $44bn (£36bn) offer to purchase Twitter, as he is alleging a breach of agreement in the deal.

This announcement is coming as a recent twist in the World’s richest man’s bid to purchase the social media site in 2022.

Musk has disclosed backing out of the deal because Twitter failed to give enough information on the number of spam and fake accounts. Twitter has plans to use legal action to enforce the agreement.

In May, Elon Musk announced that the deal was temporarily placed on hold because he was waiting for data on the number of fake and spam accounts on the platform. The billionaire entrepreneur has asked for evidence to back up the company’s claim that its spam and bot accounts made up less than 5% of the total users on the platform.

In a letter filed to the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Mr. Musk’s lawyer reported that Twitter had failed and refused to provide this information. Elon Musk has been trying for weeks to gather information about the daily active users on Twitter. Twitter has a problem with bots aka fake accounts. It was revealed on Thursday that the company removed about one million spam accounts a day.

It is yet unclear as to Elon backing out at this stage of the deal. He has to prove that Twitter broke its end of the agreement. There are however other possible reasons he could be backing off the deal; The stock market price for Tesla has plummeted greatly since the billionaire announced his interest in buying the microblogging site.
