Due to a lack of aviation fuel, Nigerian airline operators have issued a travel advisory.
According to Professor Obiora Okonkwo, the spokesman, travelers should prepare for flight cancellations.
All domestic airports will see significant disruptions to regularly planned aircraft operations, including cancellations and pointless delays. Okonkwo stated in a press release.
According to the organization, the cost of aviation fuel has increased by roughly 400% since December 2021.
The shutdown of one runway at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport and the lack of US dollars to buy replacement parts for grounded aircraft are two additional issues affecting the aviation industry, according to Mr. Okonkwo.
Two of the ten airlines that make up the umbrella organization have halted operations.
Dana Air was shut down by the nation’s Civil Aviation Authority on July 20 due to financial issues and persistent flight issues, while Aero Contractors temporarily suspended operations because of the airline’s high operating costs and a fuel shortage.
