If the Director of Cash Departments does not appear before the Senate tomorrow to present sensitive documents related to the disbursement of Service Wide Votes and the missing N113 million on salary adjustment for the Joint Admission Board Matriculation ( JAMB), THE SENATE has threatened the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Budget, and National Planning officials with an arrest warrant.
Senator Matthew Urhoghide (PDP, Edo South), chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Accounts, stated Wednesday in Abuja that the threat became necessary because the Director was absent despite being invited three times but declining each time.
Urhoghide stated that the committee had written a letter of appearance to the ministry on October 20, 2022, and the letter was received by the ministry on October 21, 2022, to also give details of released money to all the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, MDAs, including Police and Armed Forces. However, the Director did not show up for the committee’s first meeting yesterday; only JAMB did.
He claims that another letter regarding the unpaid N113 million in salary augmentation for JAMB was sent to the ministry on Dec. 8, 2022
