The All Progressives Congress (APC) primary in the Gombe South Senatorial Zone, which resulted in Joshua Lidani for the election on Saturday, was declared invalid by the Gombe State Appeal Court on Monday.
The court, presided over by Judge Ali Gumel, granted Bilyaminu Babadidi’s request to annul the Federal High Court’s decision from Gombe on December 6, 2022, which sided with the persecuted Lidani.
The Appellate Court acknowledged Babadidi’s reliefs and questioned the APC for treating candidates, voters, and agents unfairly during the primary, according to documents seen by The Guardian.
Supported by the INEC report, the court determined that there was evidence that the primary elections were not fair.
The primaries were declared invalid by the court because they were fundamentally flawed, and unconstitutional in their conduct and consequence.
APC, meanwhile, rejected the decision and said that its candidate will still run in this Saturday’s poll.
Moses Kyari, the party’s publicity secretary in the state, highlighted in a statement that the party has not yet received the court verdict.
