By the end of this week, India will surpass China as the world’s most populous nation, according to the UN.

By the end of April, 1,425,775,850 people are anticipated to live in India, according to the most recent statistics.

Last week, a different UN organization forecast that by the middle of this year, India would surpass China.

Over the past 70 years, the population of Asian countries has made up more than a third of the world’s total.

China will soon relinquish its long-held position as the world’s most populous nation, according to a statement from the UN’s Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA).

It also noted that the precise date on which India is expected to surpass China in terms of population size is approximate and subject to revision due to the uncertainty associated with estimating and projecting populations.

By the middle of 2023, India will have 2.9 million more people than China, according to data released last week by the UN Population Fund.

China’s population shrank last year for the first time since 1961 as a result of a recent drop in birth rates.

According to DESA, China’s population may go below 1 billion before the end of the century.

India’s population, on the other hand, is anticipated to keep expanding for several decades, it was stated.

However, India is also experiencing a decline in fertility rates, which have fallen from 5.7 births per woman in 1950 to 2.2 births per woman now.

The world population surpassed 8 billion people in November. But according to analysts, growth is now occurring at its slowest rate since 1950 and is not as quick as it once was.
