In continuation of the Presidential Election Petition, which was adjourned to Monday, May 22nd. The tribunal has just dismissed the application of Peter Obi and Atiku for a live broadcast of the court proceedings.
The court dismissed the application, stating that the application is not meritorious. As given by Justice Tsammani in a unanimous decision from the five man panel.
“The application lacks merit and is accordingly dismissed,” Justice Tsammani said.
Further explaining the decision of the court, the Justice said that the application ought to have been made before today, as live streaming requires adequate planning, and it’s not just carried out like that.
He also said, regardless of the application not made earlier, the Election Petition Court do not have the Power to permit live-streaming, without laws enabling it to come into effects, so Hy permitting it they’ll acting outside their power as a Tribunal.
