The Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, through the Trucks Transit Parks, TTP, has established a compulsory fee of 50 Naira stamp duty payment on every 1,000 Naira receipt issued to truck drivers.
This directive was contained in a notice and announced by THE PUNCH Newspaper correspondents on Tuesday, August 15.
In the notice the management of TTP remarked that starting from September 2023, the NPA would begin implementing the directive on all issued receipts of 1,000 Naira and above in value with N50 Naira.
This move is in line with the policy of the Federal Ministry of Finance issued about two years ago to all Heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies respectively.
The notice read partly:
“The consequence of NPA’s directive for stakeholders in the port environment doing business with TTP is that, from the announced date stated, all reservations on the eto platform will begin attracting an added compulsory charge of 50 Naira.”
“In the event of the foregoing, all stakeholders are by this notice, briefed that in accordance with the above-highlighted order of the NPA, TTP would begin implementing the said directive, as from 1st September 2023.” The notice concluded.
