In a sombre turn of events, the mother of Senator Ahmed Lawan, who once held the prestigious position of President in the 9th Senate, has passed away. Hajiya Halima Daja, as she was known, succumbed to the inevitable grasp of death.

This heart-wrenching incident occurred in Gashua, Yobe State, during the night of October 14.

At the age of 86, Hajiya Halima Ibrahim, the former Senate President’s mother, breathed her last, as confirmed by Dr. Ezrel Tabiowo, a spokesperson for Senator Lawan.

A statement released in the wake of her passing disclosed that Hajiya Halima Ibrahim would be laid to rest in Gashua, following Islamic customs, on the forthcoming Sunday.

The grieving process will include funeral prayers held at the Gashua Central Mosque within the Emir’s Palace.

The former Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan, expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support and condolences pouring in from friends, family, and colleagues during this trying time.

In the face of such personal loss, the Lawan family extends its deepest appreciation to all who have offered their sympathies and prayers, recognizing that their love and support have been a pillar of strength.

This unfortunate event underscores the impermanence of life, reminding us that even influential figures like politicians will eventually return to the earth with no material possessions. It’s a poignant moment that might prompt reflection on the state of our country and how it is governed.
