In a sombre turn of events, the mother of Senator Ahmed Lawan, who once held the prestigious position of President in the 9th Senate, has passed away. Hajiya Halima Daja, as she was known, succumbed to the inevitable grasp of death.

At the age of 86, Hajiya Halima Ibrahim, the former Senate President’s mother, breathed her last, as confirmed by Dr. Ezrel Tabiowo, a spokesperson for Senator Lawan.
A statement released in the wake of her passing disclosed that Hajiya Halima Ibrahim would be laid to rest in Gashua, following Islamic customs, on the forthcoming Sunday.
The grieving process will include funeral prayers held at the Gashua Central Mosque within the Emir’s Palace.
