The Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has urged the leaders of churches statewide who operate schools in the state to lessen their fees in order to give every child equal opportunity to attend the schools.

Soludo had made the appeal on Saturday, November 4 at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, during a prayer event organised by the Anglican Communion to pray for harmony and progress of the state.

The governor had just recently announced a tuition-free education for all children in the state who go to state government schools, from nursery through junior secondary school.

The governor, while speaking at the event had said:
“We want to appeal to churches who operate schools to reduce their school fees so that the woman who sells pepper in the market and the lady who hawks groundnut, will be able to pay school fees for her children in your school too.”

The Governor expressed his appreciation to the church for their role in establishing a modest society through healthcare, evangelism and quality education.

Lastly, he promised to always partner with the church to support positive change and vowed to keep giving value to Ndi Anambra for the duration of his administration.
