In the world of football, Nigerian talents Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala have surged into the spotlight, earning nominations for the 2023 Globe Soccer Best Men and Women Player Awards respectively. This recognition shines a light on their exceptional performances.

Victor Osimhen, known for his stellar contribution to Napoli’s success, stands among 29 others contending for the men’s award. His remarkable role in clinching Napoli’s first league title in over 30 years captivated audiences worldwide, securing him the Emerging Player of the Year accolade last season in the Globe Soccer Awards.

Osimhen’s exceptional talent earned him the eighth spot in the prestigious 2023 Ballon d’Or rankings, a record-setting achievement for a Nigerian player. Moreover, he’s a strong contender for the upcoming African Player of the Year award.

As for the women’s category, Asisat Oshoala, a powerhouse in Barcelona’s triumphs including a treble, notably the Champions League, stands tall among the nominees. Her prowess challenges stereotypes, proving that being a woman doesn’t limit one’s capabilities in football.

The nominations don’t end there. A constellation of football stars vies for recognition. The men’s category features luminaries like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Kylian Mbappé among others, while the coaching category boasts notable figures such as Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta.

The selection process involves online voting until December 7th, followed by a 30-member jury from the football industry making the final decisions. The much-anticipated Globe Soccer Awards ceremony is slated for January 19, 2024, where the winners will be revealed and celebrated for their outstanding contributions to the sport.
