The recognition was done by Facebook in order to acknowledge African countries who are breaking grounds across the world in various areas of life.

However, in regards to the Africa Day celebration on May 25, Facebook has announced that it would be starting a series of short films Made by Africa, Loved by the World which is a global campaign to tell stories of eight phenomenal creatives and small business owners who are changing the status quo across the world.
