The BET Awards, established in 2001 by Black Entertainment Television, honor the achievements of Black entertainers and other underrepresented groups in music, film, sports, and philanthropy.
The 2024 ceremony, held at the Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles, highlighted the success of Nigerian star Temilade Openiyi, known as Tems, who won her fourth BET Award. Tems clinched the Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award with her 2023 song “Me & U,” outshining notable artists like Kirk Franklin, CeCe Winans, and Maverick City Music.
