The Kaduna State local government election results are in, and guess what? The All Progressives Congress (APC) has once again swept the entire board, winning all 23 chairmanship and a staggering 255 councillorship seats.

According to the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM), not a single seat slipped out of APC’s hands. One might start wondering if this was an election or just another “well-scripted” one-party drama.

Hajara Mohammed, the chairperson of KAD-SIECOM, didn’t even break a sweat when announcing the results. She casually mentioned that eight political parties participated in this so-called “election.” Yet somehow, the ruling APC miraculously won every single chairmanship seat in Birnin-Gwari, Chikun, Igabi, Ikara, Jaba, Jema’a, Kachia, and the list goes on. If you were expecting any upsets or competition, well, you’re clearly in the wrong state.

Governor Uba Sani, who of course cast his vote in the Kaduna North Local Government Area, was all smiles, expressing his delight at the “peaceful” elections. According to him, the elections were free, fair, and peaceful, with just a few “minor” hiccups in three polling units and wards. Apparently, the near-total APC domination was just a result of the people’s will, or so we’re supposed to believe.

Sani didn’t miss a beat in praising the voter turnout across all 23 local government areas, claiming that everything went according to plan. Of course, this is exactly what we expect from a governor whose party is enjoying a clean sweep.

On the other hand, the Inter-party Advisory Council (IPAC) of Kaduna Chapter chimed in, calling the election “peaceful and transparent,” despite the fact that some areas experienced the ever-familiar delays in delivering voting materials.

The bottom line is this: The APC is once again reigning supreme in Kaduna State, sweeping every local government seat like it’s their divine right. And while officials continue to tout the fairness and peacefulness of these elections, the sheer monopoly of one party winning every seat is sure to raise questions among those who still believe in the concept of democracy.
