The Governor of Kwara State, Abdul Rahman AbdulRazaq has been elected as the new Chairman of the Nigeria’s  Governor’s Forum, NGF, while Seyi Makinde, the Oyo State Governor was elected as the Vice Chairman.

The election had been a consensus amongst all Governors, and was conducted  late Tuesday night, May 22.

The information was released this morning in a Statement, signed by the former acting Chairman, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal who is the governor of Sokoto state.

Ex-Governor of Ekiti state, Dr Kayode Fayemi was the previous chairman of the organization, and had to drop the position after the completion of his second tenure, Tambuwal had then become the acting chairman, since he had been Fayemi’s deputy. This recent election has been deemed to be fair, as all the Governors gave their approval.

Gov Abdulrazaq has meanwhile given a statement, on Wednesday 24th of May in reaction to his election, appreciating Allah and all the governors who lent their support to him during the election. He then pledged to carryout of the visions and goals of the NGF, putting in mind the attributes of the organization, as a credible and authoritative body.

The NGF is an organization that consists of all the Governors of the 36 states in Nigeria, serving as a platform for discussion, decision making, analysing problems and proceeding solutions for the overall development of Nigeria.
