The Alaigbo Development Foundation (ADF), a notable Igbo think tank, has strongly condemned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for being oblivious to the suffering of Nigerians.
The ADF National President, Professor Ukachukwu Awuzie, accused Tinubu of caring more about luxuries than citizens’ welfare, citing the recent purchase of a $150 million presidential aircraft amid rampant poverty and insecurity.
“How can he buy a new presidential jet when people are dying of hunger? This doesn’t show any empathy for Nigerians,” said Awuzie, who went on to accuse Tinubu of having “bought himself into the presidency.”
The ADF also condemned the South East Governors Forum for making it impossible for the establishment of a regional security outfit, thus worsening insecurity in the region. “We were waiting for our own security outfit to police Igbo land, but unfortunately, all the governors wanted was community policing, which has led us nowhere,” Awuzie expressed, disappointment evident in his words.
Awuzie emphasized the need for free and fair elections to ensure accountable leaders, stressing that citizens must participate in good governance. “When those holding positions know they were voted in by their own people, then they will strive hard enough to serve them,” he said.
