A police station at Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra was invaded by some unknown gunmen, and two Vigilante Operatives were killed in the process.
Reports have it that, the gunmen were on their way to attack the police station and they encountered the Vigilantes operatives on their way and as to defend themselves, they opened for on the Vigilantes and killed two of them.
There are different stories on the issue, a source said that the Gunmen eventually gained entrance into the police station and set free the prisoners, however, Another source said that they couldn’t get in as they were repelled by police officers on duty.
The sources said it was a “bloody night” as the hoodlums started shooting sporadically as they approached the police station to gain entrance, while the security personnel also engaged them in a hot exchange of gun duel, which lasted over 45 minutes
The police spokesperson of Anambra state, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident and said that the Gunmen did not gain entrance into the police station as they were repelled by police officers.
