Godswill Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom State has just been elected as the Senate President of the 10th Assembly.
Recall that the Senate President election had commenced with Akpabio and former Governor of Zamfara State, Senator-elect Abdulazeez Yari, competing for the position.
After a short break, Sani Tambuwal, the National Assembly clerk had, announced Akpabio as the Senate President. Akpabio had garnered 63 votes to beat Yari who had gotten 46 votes.
