Ohanaeze Ndigbo has enjoined President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the matter of the demolition of the Alaba International Market in Lagos State, asking him to convince the Lagos State Governor to temper justice with mercy on the Igbo indigenes in the state.
This appeal is coming after the Lagos State Government began the process of demolishing the distressed buildings in the Alaba International Market in Ojo LGA.
According to Isiguzoro, the spokes representative for Ohaneze, bad politics was the main issue affecting Igbo businesses in Lagos State.
This allegation is not far-fetched as the issue of bigotry and tribalism has surged since the 2023 general elections in Nigeria.
Some of the traders affected has revealed that they had only been given 3 hrs to vacate their shops, which if one is being honest, is very little time, considering that these traders have multi-million Naira goods in each of their respective shops.
Some of these men have also gone as far as alleging that The Lagos State government was trying to force them to leave the state by demolishing their source of livelihood— an allegation that one can not easily dismiss, given the situation of the country at the moment.
