Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has publicly apologised to Mercy Johnson-Okojie and Senator Ned Nwoko, expressing remorse for past statements and behaviour she now recognises as hurtful.

Her apology comes amid reports that Mercy Johnson filed a police petition against her over ongoing online attacks. Following this, Angela posted a message on Instagram where she reflected on the situation and addressed both Mercy and the senator directly.

Describing the past few days as a time of serious reflection, Angela admitted she often reacts emotionally when upset, but now understands the consequences of her words.

“These past days have been a period of intense reflection for me,” she began. “Lately, having reminisced on certain events that had transpired, I can only thank God that I am alive.”

She acknowledged the tension that had developed between herself and Mercy Johnson, stating that while her reactions may have come from a place of pain, they still caused harm.

“It’s no secret that there have been some difficult issues circulating on social media between Mercy Johnson and myself,” she wrote.
“I am human, and when my emotions take over, I speak from the heart… but I realize now that my utterances, whether uttered from the place of pain or not, were hurtful.”

Angela then addressed Mercy personally: “I feel so sorry having realized how this gets to you, Mercy. Your mental health is very important now and ever, and I wouldn’t wish you and your family worse—that’s not my nature, and you know it. Do find a place in your heart to forgive me.”

She also spoke about being on the receiving end of false claims, online misinformation, and betrayal but added that she has chosen forgiveness over bitterness.

In her message to Senator Ned Nwoko, Angela admitted that her earlier outburst was the result of frustration and misjudgment.

“My sincere apology also goes to Senator Ned Nwoko,” she said. “I understand that my anger in trying to make a reply didn’t find you in a good state… I truly reacted in a way I now recognise wasn’t pleasant.”

Recalling past collaborations, Angela pointed out that she had previously supported Nwoko’s political campaign and attended his family events—making her regret the fallout even more.

“All these have made me realize that being at peace is better than war or fight,” she concluded. “I deeply regret my actions and am sorry.”
