Governor Akeredolu’s prolonged illness has raised concerns as he continues to miss important events. The severity of his condition remains undisclosed, although there are indications of significant weight loss. The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has now shed some light on the situation.

In a strongly worded statement, Steve Otaloro, the party’s Director of Media and Publicity, criticized the opposition for allegedly attacking Governor Akeredolu’s family over their handling of his illness, despite the lack of public information regarding his specific ailment. He condemned the spread of “false news and rumours” regarding the governor’s demise and assured the public that Akeredolu’s health condition is not so dire as to hinder his return to office as Governor of Ondo State.
“It is disheartening to see that some people would wish death upon a fellow human being. Such actions are unfair and should be condemned by all well-meaning individuals,” he added.

Ade Adetimehin, the APC chairman in Ondo State, also appealed for support and prayers for the governor and his family, acknowledging the challenging circumstances they face.

However, since Governor Akeredolu’s departure for medical treatment overseas and his subsequent temporary handing over of power to Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the state cabinet has become divided. Some members align themselves with Aiyedatiwa in preparation for a potential transition of power, while others remain fiercely loyal to Akeredolu, causing friction and splitting the state into factions.

Furthermore, there are doubts surrounding the accuracy of the information released about the governor’s condition. Reports suggest that he is critically ill, but the truth remains uncertain. Regardless, it is important to monitor the unfolding situation while keeping the governor in our thoughts and prayers. In the meantime, it is crucial for the cabinet to maintain order and stability until the governor is deemed fit to resume his duties.
