Arsenal’s injury worry deepened at the Carabao Cup semi- final second leg with Newcastle United when Gabriel Martinelli suffered a hamstring injury. The Brazilian attacker, 23, will be out for a period of over a month, according to The Athletic.
Martinelli’s setback comes as another blow to Arsenal in attack, with Bukayo Saka also missing and Gabriel Jesus out for the season with an ACL injury.
The Gunners’ thinness of depth has been even more exposed after not securing a striker in the January transfer window. Having missed out on a late deal for Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, Arsenal were forced to make do with little to help Mikel Arteta who has seen his side struggle to maintain momentum in the Premier League.
Arsenal have a tough few weeks ahead if they are to keep shaping their own season with a toothless frontline.
