A horrific bus crash in southern Bolivia has left at least 15 people dead and 19 others injured, according to local police. The accident occurred early Monday morning when a truck collided with a bus on a highway, forcing the bus off the road and causing it to roll approximately 500 meters (1,640 feet) down a ravine.

Rescuers are working tirelessly to recover the bodies of those killed in the crash, with the death toll estimated to be between 15 and 20 persons . At the time of filing this report, all those injured have been transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the truck involved in the collision has also been arrested, and authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.

Second Major Crash in the Region Within Days

This incident is coming on the heels of another deadly crash in the same region just days earlier, where more than three dozen people were killed in a collision between two buses. The back-to-back accidents have raised serious concerns about road safety in Bolivia, prompting calls for urgent action to prevent further tragedies.

These crashes have also emphasised on the need for stricter enforcement of traffic laws and improved road infrastructure in Bolivia. Authorities are under pressure to address the root causes of these accidents, including reckless driving, poor road conditions, and inadequate vehicle maintenance.
