Governor Seyi Makinde has declared tomorrow, Friday, April 26th, 2024, as a half-workday for all government employees. This decision comes in preparation for the upcoming Local Government elections scheduled for Saturday, April 27th.
What does this mean for you?
Government offices will close by noon, allowing everyone enough time to travel and prepare for the elections. However, essential service personnel will be required to remain at their posts.
He said, “A circular signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Olanike Adeyemo, stated that government offices are to close by noon while personnel covering essential services are expected to remain at their duty posts.
“The state government, therefore, enjoined all public and civil servants to go out and exercise their civic rights on Saturday.” The statement added.
This move by the Governor aims to encourage public and civil servants to actively participate in their civic duty by voting on Saturday. So, make sure to use your half-day wisely and exercise your right to vote!
