Aviation workers across the country are currently protesting against an alleged ‘obnoxious’ legislation. Ben Nnabue, the President of the National Union of Air Transport Employees -NUATE, has told journalists that the protest had taken place in all the airports in the nation.
Ben had also revealed the protesters were demanding the removal of a clause in an act establishing aviation agencies, seeking to bar trade unions from protesting. The protesters had also given the federal government a two-week ultimatum for them to look into their demands, or see them commence on a full-blown strike that would possibly shut down airport activities.
“It is a peaceful demonstration. If they don’t listen to us or look at our demands, then we will start grounding the airport operations. We have given the government a 2 weeks ultimatum to look into our demands, after which we will start striking.” Nnabue had finished.
