Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, who is the lead counsel for the detained leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has raised an alarm, over plots by some individuals to solicit money illegally from Nigerians using his name.
According to the senior lawyer, certain people had been using his name and that of his chambers, on various social media platforms to ask for funds to prosecute Kanu’s cases.
Ozekhome had already warned that those behind the posts were fraudsters and criminal elements and should be treated as such by security officers.
“Anyone giving out money on my behalf or in my name, or chambers’ name, allegedly for the prosecution of Nnamdi Kanu, does so at his or her own risk and peril. As neither I, the lead counsel to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, nor anyone else working with me in my team on the matters, will ever approach anyone, donors, or corporate bodies (both local or international), through social media, or by any other channel, to solicit for funds for the prosecution of Nnamdi Kanu’s cases, under any guise, artifice, design, or circumstances howsoever.” Ozekhome had warned.
